Day 1 SATURDAY 8 PM /11 PM Soiree – Gather in the lobby of Hotel ZOCALO CENTRAL (14/312 in Trip Advisor) on Calle 5 de Mayo #61, Centro Historico de la Ciudad de Mexico for welcome reception. The Hotel, ideally located in front of Mexico’s Main Plaza, EL ZOCALO, makes for a perfect stay. Stunning views of a UNESCO site.
Day 2 SUNDAY 8 AM Enjoy breakfast at the Roof Top with a spectacular view of “The Heart of Mexico City”. 9:00-10 AM/2:30 PM We meet at the lobby and walk to visit the Merced, for generations, the only wholesale Market in the city. You will taste fresh tacos and “antojitos”, learn about prehispanic ingredients and stroll through streets you would never imagine exist. 3:00 PM FREE TIME – We highly recommend 2 options: FRIDA KAHLO’S MUSEUM also known as BLUE HOUSE (8/526 in TripAdvisor), the perfect introduction to her fascinating life and artwork or THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ANTHROPOLOGY (1/526 in TripAdvisor), get a look of what life was like in this region before its colonization, through ethnographic and archaeological remains 8:30 PM Gather in the lobby and walk to an Avant Garde dining with a modern twist at Azul.
Day 3 MONDAY 8 AM Enjoy breakfast at the Roof Top with a spectacular view of “The Heart of Mexico City”. 9 AM C/O and transfer to Airport 11:50 AM/1:40 PM Have a snack.
Flight from Mexico City to Torreon. A van will pick us up and take us to Parras de la Fuente (On a Pilgrimage to Parras, Mexico’s Underrated Wine Region, Conde Nast Traveler, Nov. 24, 2016) in The Chihuahuan Desert, the origin of the Wine Industry in America dating back to 1597. Vines from Parras were later exported to Napa Valley, Chile and Argentina. Meet small producers, family-run wineries.
8:00 PM Soiree. We will walk together to the venue, El Hostal el Farol. Danza Tlaxcalteca Santo Cristo.
Day 4 TUESDAY 8:00 AM We are off walking to Las Parras de Santa Maria for a delicious and healthy breakfast and a briefing on our Desert Experience to-be.
10:00 AM/2:00 PM A van takes us to BODEGAS DON LEO, one of the highest vineyards in the world for a Wine Tasting. Francisco Rodriguez, part of the staff, is globally recognized as Mexico’s most decorated winemaker. 2:00 PM Van transfer to our hotel. 5:00/7:00 PM City Tour in a traditional open vehicle 8:00 PM We are off walking to Angelotti’s for dinner with wine pairing
Day 5 WEDNESDAY 9:00 AM This morning we walk to Las Parras de Santa Maria for a delicious and healthy breakfast 10:00 AM Van transfer to CASA MADERO, Oldest Winery in The Americas, for a guided tour. Time at the store 2:00 PM Van transfer to EL MESON DE DON EVARISTO for lunch 5:00 PM/7:00 PM Van transfer to BODEGA RIVERO GONZALEZ, you can find many of their wines in wine-searcher.com 8:00 PM Farewell Party at La Casona del Banco
