Mogu Food Truck
Japanese Inspired Fast Food – Howe Street at Dunsmuir Street
In Yuji Aoki’s own words: Mogu was started by Yuji Aoki and Derek Yip. Our concept is Japanese inspired fast food, and it’s a reflection of myself as a Japanese Canadian. The taste is Japanese to the core, but there are definitely North American and other ethnic influences in our food. Our food trailer will dominate the world because it’s fresh, hot, saucy, messy and super tasty! Our most popular items are the Pork Miso Katsu Sandwich and our Sweet & Spicy Chicken Karaage. We’ll have new items coming out as daily specials – currently Mondays are Asian Poutine Day!
Follow them on Twitter or Facebook to see their current location.

Below are 5 quick questions that we asked Yuji
What “hole” do you fill in Vancouver’s food scene?
When you think of Japanese food in Vancouver you think of sushi, izakaya, ramen and rice bowls. Mogu is bringing a whole new style of Japanese food with our fast food concept and North American influences.
What’s the most popular combination that people order at your food cart?
Combo – Pork Miso Katsu Sandwich, mini Swet & Spicy Chicken Karaage, and Iced Green Tea for $12. I guarantee it will fill you up and make you fall asleep back at your office!
If you could change 1 by-law to help your business, what would you change?
I think there’s some by-law against putting things on top of your trailer. I would change that so we can put a DJ on top of our trailer and bust out “Summertime” by Fresh Prince from May to October.
Where do you like to unwind after a long day (in Vancouver)?
Suika Snackbar Izakaya! Great food, atmosphere, and best service!
What would be your last meal before a zombie apocalypse?
If zombie’s are knocking at my door right now, I would have the spaghetti carbonara and tiramisu mousse at Campagnolo Roma – so awesomely good!
