A week ago, Vancouver Food Tour attended “A Chocolate Reception” at Chocolate Arts (1620 West 3rd Ave) to celebrate their 20th Anniversary. The delicious event overflowed with some of Vancouver’s tastiest and most visually stunning chocolate treats.

A whimsical sculpture by Chocolate Arts
With a glass of vino in hand, there was no shortage of chocolate creations to indulge in. The beautifully crafted chocolate sculptures were admired by all. Owner and creative chocolatier, Greg Hook, was on hand to share his passion for chocolate. He also showed off some of his unique concoctions including Tanzania Pots de Cremes, Lemon and Basil Ice Cream Sandwiches, Raspberry Mousse and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies dusted with Maldon salt.

Can you spot which ones I made, and which the chocolatier did?
A personal highlight of the event was when I was given the opportunity to try my hand at chocolate lollipop making with chocolatier, Phillipe Vancayseele, the technical director of Cacao Barry and director of the Chocolate Academy of Canada. I tried my best and I think they turned out well. All the other indulgent chocolate offerings on his table looked (and tasted) amazing!

Congratulations to Chocolate Arts on their 20 years of sharing their chocolate expertise with the city of Vancouver. Among the many reasons why I suggest that you visit Chocolate Arts (and soon!), two should clearly be highlighted:
1) Chocolate Arts is one of 23 local venues which is participating in the 3rd Annual Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival. The flavours they’re offering definitely should not be missed. See what makes up the “When Pigs Fly” and “Armoury Amour” here. The festival runs until February 14.
2) With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I can think of no better place to buy some luscious chocolates for your sweetheart. Check out their extensive offerings here.

This organically decorated chocolate display was not only beautiful, but also absolutely delicious.
We look forward to returning to Chocolate Arts the next time a chocolate craving hits!
