Where to Eat in Vancouver: The Wine Bar TWB Opens in Yaletown

On the evening of January 16, Vancouver Food Tour had the pleasure of attending the official opening party for Vancouver’s newest wine bar, TWB – The Wine Bar. (1167 Marinaside Crescent, Vancouver, BC).

Located on the beautiful waterfront in Yaletown, and like its sister restaurant Provence, TWB does not disappoint with an excellent wine selection, delicious food options, and a comfortable atmosphere. Chefs and owners Jean-Francis and Alessandra Quaglia, and sommelier Rachelle Goudreau, have created a fun hang out spot for wine enthusiasts and the wine-curious.  Even a wine novice such as myself can feel at ease exploring the plentiful drink options and food pairings.

The menu includes “Bites” in two sizes – one meant to be paired with a glass of wine ($5 range) and the larger “Big Bites” for a more substantial meal (around $18).  Of the bites that were offered that evening, there was not one that I wouldn’t go back just to savour again.  My favourites included the pissaladiere (carmelized onions, black olives and anchovies on pizza crust), the crisp spiced pork belly, the calamari, and the gnocchi du jour.

Serving 50 wines by the glass, the primary focus of the list is French but they also house an impressive selection from the Mediterranean.  Their “On Tap” options feature a vast selection of local BC wines, including my recent favourite, the Joie Farm Noble Blend.

Congratulations to Provence Restaurants on the official opening of TWB – The Wine Bar! For those looking for a location to relax with a glass of vino, enjoy quality food and good conversation (not to mention the view of the marina and seawall), then TWB should definitely be high on the list.
