Where to Eat in Vancouver: The Portside Pub Opens in Gastown

On January 27, Vancouver’s trendy Gastown welcomed its newest pub and live music venue – The Portside Pub, located at 7 Alexander Street.  (It was formerly the Post Modern club).

Local entrepreneur Mark Brand designed his latest undertaking with the traditional east coast pub culture as his inspiration. Named after a park that is only a few short blocks away, the narrow three level space has a beautiful old-time nautical charm.  It is decorated with sandblasted walls, exposed brick, old ship models, wooden wheels and timber.

The beer selection at the pub is excellent, featuring over 24 craft beers pumping through 48 taps at bars on both the lower and upper levels .  Also, who can pass up the bathtub that doubles as a Jameson tap?

If you are looking for beer-friendly pub food, Portside has three windows that serve up favourites such as pulled pork and playful alternatives like dim sum.

In addition to the laid-back friendly atmosphere and extensive beer selection, the venue is suitable for live music and a variety of celebrations. Congratulations to Mark Brand and his  team for opening another exceptional spot in one of our favourite Vancouver neighbourhoods.

It’s always sunny on the portside!
