Where to Eat in Vancouver: The Parlour Restaurant and Lounge Opens in Yaletown

Posted by on Feb 5, 2013 in Restaurant Recommendations | 2 comments

We at Vancouver Food Tour are always on the lookout for great new Vancouver restaurants.  We were excited to visit a new contender in the culinary scene, The Parlour Restaurant and Lounge. On January 29, we ventured to bustling Yaletown to check out the stylishly-eclectic lounge, located at 1011 Hamilton Street.

Simply put, the The Parlour has created a beautiful space. The wall behind the bar is adorned with wooden crates that are filled with vintage items including old Playboys, vases and candle-lit glass.  The back wall is covered with vintage framed mirrors in a variety of sizes and shapes. There is even a piece of artwork that features gold cast bras.  Another wall uses salvaged CN railroad ties to hold wine bottles.

The Parlour’s open kitchen shows off their huge oven where they fire their unique pizzas.  The fire also provides a cozy vibe, which creates an atmosphere that feels approachable for Yaletown standards.

The reasonably priced menu ($5 – $18) features small bites, share plates, salads, soups, sandwiches and pizzas. Personally, I could not get enough of the salmon tartare spoons, piled high with steelhead salmon, bonito, sesame seeds, macadamia nuts, ponzu, aioli and micro cilantro.

The highlight of the menu is the unexpected pizza combinations. The two favourites from the list of 12 were the #Swag (riccota, roasted pepper, kalamata olives, caramelized onions, roasted garlic and golden honey) and the Artichoke (with creamed spinach, parmesan and mozza). Both were delectable and paired well with the many local craft beers or wines on the list.  Also worthy of mention, The Perfect Lady cocktail really hit the spot.

The Perfect Lady cocktail was our favourite that night

Congratulations to management team Sean and Chris Holland and Paul Rivas along with their friendly staff for the opening of The Parlour. We’re excited to return and explore the rest of the menu, as well as order some new favourites that we’re already craving.

I agree. Was there last Saturday night and even though it was jammed, the front door staff found us room at the bar and Mike and Katy behind the bar looked after us. Food was great and look forward to going back
